I Would Describe Myself As
To help many of you screen through quicker please know that I do have MS and significant physical disability.
The short and quick. Graduated from HS in 81, attained an associates degree in Engineering in 85, a bachelor degree in Business and Industrial Management in 87 supporting myself by working in the skilled trades and volunteering at a runaway house (truly and enriching experience).
With those degrees I supported myself as an Engineer and Project Manager thru 95 while getting my MBA.
Married in 96, had 4 wonderful kids, diagnosed with MS in 01. Divorced in 02 (long story, but we all have one). Dated a little up thru 2010 but never got into a long-term relationship as I was too afraid of experiencing a repeat of round one and too busy being a very involved father.
At about this time the impact of my MS diagnosis had become quite visible with severe limping on my left side followed by loss of use of left arm and hand. I was not considered a good catch on the singles market and I do get it. My MS continued to present additional challenges in the years that followed leading me to begin working from home full-time in 2018, about the time my baby girl moved out on her own and left me as an empty nester. I went on to retire early on disability in 2020.
Through those years, I did A lot of family activities, biking, camping, boating, volleyball, guitar playing, some skiing And some piano. I still do love all these things and have a desire to do them if I could.
So here I am today. I feel my spirit, behavior, and desires of being that of a 40 year old while closing in on the biological age of a 60 š² but with the physical capability of an 80 year old.
I have been blessed through the years to be able to afford great care and devices to help along the way. I remain with a happy disposition, a good spirit, a sense of humor, a zest and appreciation for life, a love of family, friends and especially children and a desire to want to experience as much as I can that life has to offer.
To be clear I have very limited mobility. I am confined to a power chair and require assistance to transfer. I have really great people who come in and assist me in my home daily. M y form of MS is very rare in that it has severely disabled my physical body but I t has never hit my brain and therefore I have full cognition of a person in their 50s (whatever that is LOL.
I am passionate, compassionate, stable, happy, personable, forgiving, a good listener, a giver, a coach, and yes, I tear up at most undercover boss episodes.
I know finding āthe oneā or āmy sole-mateā here is along shot but Iām not sure I believe in that ideology anyway. I would be satisfied if this brings me an engaging conversation or even a new friend who relates to my circumstances. But ideally I am still looking for a life partner. Maybe Iāll find it here and maybe not but iāll continue to try and you should too. Walk because you can. I wish you the best in your search, whatever it may be
