Well, to get started, here’s a quick bio of myself. Life is too short to wonder who is this guy, ready. I’m a person who likes to put himself out there…. As they say, I have nothing to hide.
So, here we go.
My name is Carlos. I was born & raised in New York City where I attended the High School of Art & Design before I moved to Philadelphia, PA. After High School, I went to Lincoln Technical Institute for Electronics Technology & then to The Art Institute of Philadelphia where I got an Associate Degree in Specialized Technology of the Arts. Due to the lack of art jobs out there at the time, I worked as a Computer Technician for over 10 years for three different companies.
During the Recession, I worked in many different fields that was out of the box for me … A Driver for SEPTA CCT Connect/Paratransit Division, A Packager for a Manufacturer of Roof Drainage Products, a Runway Technician at Philadelphia International Airport, a Visual Designer for a major department store, and "Back of Home" employee to different stores. But I’m on disability now (SSI)
What makes disabled? I have the following conditions.
Sarcoidosis of lung, Diabetes type 2, Major Depressive Disorder, Pain Aggravated by Anxiety, Osteoarthritis (Chronic), and some Hearing Loss. There are some more minor conditions but the main issue is the Sarcoidosis. It’s such a rare condition that only .00067% of the population of the whole United States of America has it. Because of this, I am concerned disabled and receive SSI because of it …. .
Other than that, I’m feel healthy!
Today, I do some little work for a nonprofit organization teaching art history plus making Mosaic and Mural for elementary schools throughout Philadelphia (shows that I love kids). I’m what they call a interdisciplinary artist.
My skills includes ….. Sketches, Pencil, Pen, Marker Rendering, Drafting, Sculpture, Store Display and Decorations, Glass Painting, Some Oil Painting, PHOTOSHOP, Some Photography and Videography, Models and Props, Custom Party Favors, Invitations and Flyers, Mosaic & Murals, and plenty more.
As a person, I am loved by all my students, the Art community, my huge extended family & my grown children. I love just walking around Philadelphia, enjoying the outside air & checking out the sites like parks, museums, watching the riverside in Penn’s Landing, & going out with someone special to me … but I am alone now.
You see, unfortunately, I have lose my wife to a long battle with Cancer earlier this year.
I feel empty, hollow, isolated and most importantly, I feel lonely. I have all this passionate & emotional love I need to share but no one to receive it.
If you can see, I love to communicate with people, lately, I’m the only one doing all the talking (guess that’s the teacher in me - by the way - I don’t act my age some times. you gotta be a little silly, funny, comedic, & right out goofy to keep these kids attention to the History of Art). not to mention, I love making people laugh.
